Half baked
I once was too impetuous to have realized something so apparent — that training is such an integral part of development. I was too ambitious, too passionate about dreams so lofty that the moment failed to strike a cord. Now the proverbial cord struck and its resonating all over my damn cranium. As Homer Simpson would say it — “D’oh!”
Indeed, opportunities open and close rather speedily. I once had an opportunity to distribute an amazing computer hardware that’s now being advertised as a panacea for high bills. I failed to bite on it, failed to capitalize on it, failed to goddamned raise an initial fund on it. Anyway, shit happens, right?
The next best thing for me now is second-hand experience. Which means assimilating books or other media containing tales from the crypts of history. The problem lays in the environments, however. The roaring 20’s never experienced such accelerated realities we experience nowadays. Nobody in the past ever had so much information within their grasps that we modern folks are actually suffering from information overload!
Its all a challenge. And in between, I’m only half-baked by the heat of experience. Parallels in lessons there may be but exact similarities in outcomes differ. But that’s where all the fun begins, doesn’t it? The unpredictability of it all!
I may not be as half-baked as I’d want to imagine. I’d bet the most seasoned of commanders out there somehow find themselves in a completely new situation. When that time comes, their experience weighs heavily, but their just as half baked as I am. Maybe a little more baked. lol
